HOME READING PLAN
HOME READING PLAN
We invite you to a personal journey through the Scriptures. There is a short reading each day Monday through Friday, with Saturday as a catch up day or day of rest.
HOW IT WORKS
Set aside 15 minutes a day to read the short passage, and more importantly, to process it. The goal isn’t for you to get through the Scripture reading but for the Scripture to get through to you! Why did God include this Scripture, and what is he wanting to communicate to you? That is what we want to discover.
To help you get the most from your readings, we suggest you get a journal, a notebook, or open a document on your computer, tablet, or phone so you can jot out your thoughts.
Pastor Darrin developed a Soul Food Journal avaialble in the church foyer for a small donation. It incorporates the B.I.T.E. method for you!
If you’re new to this, consider using the B.I.T.E. method.
At PPCC we don’t want to simply read God’s Word, we want to delight in it and meditate on it (Psalm 1:2). The B.I.T.E. Method is one way to help us do that.
Begin your daily time with God by asking Him in prayer to open your heart and mind to the truth of His Word! Remember, He wants to speak to you!
Next, read the selected passage and then make the following notes in a journal, notebook, tablet, phone, or computer.
• B=Bible. What passage am I reading today?
• I=Investigation. What am I seeing in this passage?
• T=Takeaway. What is God saying to met through this passage?
• E=Expression. What action(s) will I take to practice what I’ve learned?
Example
Bible: Luke 1:1-4
Investigation: Luke took great care to document his account of Jesus’ life so that the readers would be assured of the things they’ve been taught about Him. I’m impressed with how meticulous Luke was in gathering his information.
Takeaway: I can trust the Gospel of Luke because of the great care taken by Luke to present an accurate account of Jesus’ life.
Expression: As I read through this Gospel, I will trust that what I read is true and that these teachings will form a solid foundation for my faith.
Finish the way you started, in prayer. Ask God to help you live out the expression he’s led you to.
