Dear Friends and Loved Ones,
We want to provide you with a brief update about what has been happening on our home front. The floodwaters have receded, but everyone across northern Thailand is still busy at work cleaning up the mess that we were left with. The smell of mud is still everywhere -- inside people's homes, and out in the streets. It looks like Chiang Mai is going to be a dusty town for quite a while!
No one here has ever experienced this level of destruction in living memory. Some are saying this was a once-in-a-hundred-years flood. Others are saying it was a once-in-a-five-hundred-years flood. In spite of the devastation, everyone is grateful that there was no loss of life.
It was amazing and heartwarming to see the level of people coming together to offer help to one another during this crisis. We ourselves have been recipients of much love and support during this difficult time. We have received help not only from our friends and supporters in the states, but also from our fellow rope holders here on the field. This has been a very humbling and touching experience for us.
This is what God's love is all about! Love truly is all about serving and giving. God's love turns His people into first responders of the highest type -- the Good Samaritan type. Like the old Church Camp song used to say, "They will know we are Christians by our love!"
Nangsar and I, along with all of our fellow believers here in Thailand, want to thank each of you for your faithful prayers, your words of encouragement and your financial gifts. Your help will go a long way in helping all of us get back on our feet. May God continue to bless you abundantly as you sacrificially serve God and His people through these great acts of mercy.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Your coworkers in Thailand,
Joni & Nangsar
