Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered through all generations.
Exodus 3:13-15

John 8:50-58

1. God’s reign is from everlasting to everlasting.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2

How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.
Daniel 4:3

But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

2. God is sovereign over all creation.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent…He set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved…The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place you appointed for them…You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, they he may bring forth food from the earth…He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting…O Lord, how manifold are your works! He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 3. God’s character and purposes are immutable.

The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty.”
Exodus 34:6-7
